BikeWell coach Eddy Kuipers (middle, top photo) had the pleasure of riding with a couple of good mates on the weekend in the Taranaki Cycle Challenge. The good times and feelings of satisfaction had by all (including the coach) were outstanding and many "moments", both high and low, were had throughout the 148km journey. BikeWell challenges riders who have ability to grab a mate or two, enter a fun ride, put on your coaching hat and watch the magic happen. Passing on knowledge and guidance is what BikeWell is all about.

BikeWell rider Belinda Fuller (middle) experiences true success over the weekend by winning her age group in the K2 race in the Coromandel. We at BikeWell fully honour this achievement as Belinda has followed our BikeWell ride plan to the tee... many prescribed workouts over the winter which included on the bike strength work/quick pedal drills, aerobic condtioning rides (in this case many hill climbs!), and some event specific intervals. Belinda has embraced all that we have given her and she has been the perfect "coachable" rider. We salute this middle aged warrior in REAL action. Well done team Fuller Fam!!
We wake on race day. The nerves are there. We scramble for what resembles a pre race routine...
Breakfast eaten. Armour on. Bikes ready.
The riders assemble and the banter flys... Bravado, insults, humour. Give and take.
In the end its about camaraderie... riders flying down the road in close combat, on the limit, touching the edge.
This is cycling culture at its best.

Wind ruled the day but no excuses.
We simply needed to go smarter and deeper in all aspects of our training and racing.
